Fall Leaves, Fall

Day 805 Fall Leaves, Fall

NaBloPoMo #5

Shoulda taken a picture or three this afternoon. Could have explained why I like winter. Pictures would have shown the mountains of leaves in my back yard, waiting to be hauled to the curb in front. Biggest reason I like winter is that the leaves are all down, moved and hauled off by the town. No more waiting for that huge silver maple to finally shed its leaves. Had to wait till after Thanksgiving one year. Spent a weekend raking leaves in the snow. Bad enough hauling tarp full after tarp full of leaves to the front. Add in nearly equal amounts of snow, plus the fact that the leaves are wet? Thats a lot of weight being towed around. By two legged mule. At least then we had the boys around to help. This year? Solo baby. After today, Im about half way home.

Alma Mater boys team won their soccer game yesterday, so for the first time in our schools history we have both the boys and girls championships for soccer. Great turn out for both games, especially considering the weather max of 40 degrees and breezy for both games. We thought we were cold the kids were out there playing in shorts and sweatshirts. Hope all that running around kept them warm enough.

Had Cindys dad over for the day again. Had him out raking leaves for a bit. He wisely laid low when it came time for hauling them. I dont think his back could much stand the strain. It was enough to just get him out shagging leaves out of the gardens and getting a little outdoor activity. Had to make him earn his dinner somehow.

Also finally weaseled my way into having Cindy drive her dad back to his apartment. Its a 15 minute drive to the other side of the city all but 2 miles is expressway. She was kinda pissed about it, mumbled something about having to call her sub line (to see if any teachers called in sick and need subs for tomorrow), and needing to do some ironing. I can iron, (and I will after this), and the messages will be waiting for her in her voice mail. Shes probably more pissed about missing out on some prime drinking time, she just cant (or wont) bitch about it in front of her dad. Oh well. More for her to have later, I guess.

Gotta go call my mom. Supposed to have dinner over there tomorrow, and I need to confirm. Poor girl will be frantic.

2 million leaves down, only 2 million to go.

Updated stats:

Current weight: 186 on 10/28/06 (Nice rut to be in)

New target Aim is 180, by Christmas. With Thanksgiving coming and all those Christmas cookies to be eaten. No sweat.

The Keep on Truckin goal: (idea stolen shamelessly from Marns Big Adventure)
