Bah, humbug!
2007-12-15, 11:19 p.m.

Day 1210

After yesterday & today, Christmas shopping is about 90% complete. Got some small things to track down.

Gave up on the raspberry/chocolate swirlies and will be proceeding full steam ahead whit white chocolate instead. Betcha the cookies will turn out fine.

This afternoon Zach & I cranked out 10 lbs of italian sausage out of the deer he got last month. we have another 11 lbs ready to stuff. After that, we'll do 10 lbs os breakfast sausage and 10 or so lbs of jerky. We'll be another 3 or 4 weekends getting all that done, but it'll be worth the investment in time.

It's now, what, 11:23pm Saturday night. Been snowing for 5 or 6 hours now. We easily have 2 inches new accumulation, they're promising 18 more inches. Woke up this morning to find this from the National Weather Service:

TOTAL SNOWFALL FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT WILL AVERAGE 8 TO 12 INCHES ACROSS THE SOUTHERN TIER... 10 TO 15 INCHES FROM THE BUFFALO AREA TO THE FINGER LAKES...AND 14 TO 22 INCHES NEAR LAKE ONTARIO AND ACROSS THE ROCHESTER AREA. THESE HEAVIER AMOUNTS WILL BE AIDED BY SOME ENHANCEMENT OFF LAKE ONTARIO LATER SUNDAY AND SUNDAY EVENING.

BY MONDAY MORNING THE STORM WILL LOOSEN ITS GRIP ON THE REGION AND ONLY LOCALIZED LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED SOUTHEAST OF THE GREAT LAKES.

BRING IT!!

How can you not love the weather around here? It's rarely boring!

Some of today's chores?

Gym first thing
Go out to The Bob's and check on him
Gas up the vehicles.
Make sure the snowblower has plenty of gas.
Bring in a boatload of firewood.
Fix a downspout (for when all this freakin snow melts!)
Grocery shopping
Return movies
Get more movies (Chuck & Larry and Pirates of the Caribbean III)

Tomorrow will be spent doing Christmas cookies & watching football. The Bills will be playing the Browns in Blizzard Bowl. We'll be watching if the satellite signal hangs in there. First team to score in that one may be the winner.

We'll be staying inside for the most part, baking our buns off. I suggest y'all do the same. Will have to make one or two trips out to clear the driveway. Can't let it build up too much or the snow blower can't throw it up & over the banks. If we survive this (we always do), maybe I'll have some candid shots of what it's like to snow blow a driveway in 30mph winds. Could be neat. Not to mention very, very cool.
