Day 1287

Happy Leap Day!!

Now, to quote one Emeril Lagasse Pork fat rules. Check this out.

As if that werent enough, there's this.

Ive had scrapple before. Cindys cousins in Delaware & SE Pa. love the stuff. I tried some to appease them one fine Sunday morning. I gotta admit I dont understand the attraction. The stuff tastes about as gross as the preparation makes it sound.

Good night at bowling last night. Team took all 8 points and everybody bowled better than their average. I even raised mine a half pin. Only 2 weeks of team competition to go. Were 15 points out of first, 5 ahead of third. Next week we bowl the 18th placed team. Another solid evening would be nice. Its be nice to lock up second at least, but the 3rd & 4th place teams might still have a say in that.

Finally got some pics from last weeks hole in the wall festivities. This might be a tad image intensive.

This is a 12x12 sample of the tile were going to use on the back splash:

This shows the movement of the windows, from an outside perspective. Much easier to see this way:

This shows the inside view. The windows are there on the right. You also get a freebie of Zachs backside and a peek at his future FIL:

Sunday morning, taking the measure of a soon to be gone window:

Taking a lunch break in the opening for the door. Yes, that is a giant jug omilk. I drink milk with nearly every meal I eat at home. I have no idea what that look on my face is. Might be coughing?

You see where that door opening is? You see whats in front of it? Thatd be the pond. Guess whats moving this spring?

Inside view of the new door in place. Finished it an hour before Zachs hockey game.

Outside view with the semi-finished door. Still have to replace the shingles and do all the finish trim. On the right edge of the pic is a lovely little thyme bush. At the moment, its buried in just over a foot of snow. The slightly taller plant is a hunk of yarrow. Seems to have missed being pruned last fall . . .

A view of the kitchen from the old family room doorway. Kinda shows the weekends progress . . .

All thats left is to move some of the electric, re-route the plumbing for the sink, move a heater duct and put up drywall. Hoping to be doing the drywall by Saturday afternoon. Kind of lucky in that most of the drywall will be either behind cabinets or behind tile. Very little will actually be exposed. That means I dont have to be nearly as anal about the joints as usual. Slap some mud on em, get em flat and paint. We could have walls ready for cabinets by next weekend.

Gotta run. Got work work to get accomplished before I tackle more walls . . .
